I do not agree with this proposal of "catering" to students that attend All Native.  This has come up before, was voted down. In my conversations with some parents, who don't attend the All Native, feel the same way and get pressured to go to the All Native because there is no school. We cannot teach students that the world is going to cater for the All Native, that is what we are doing if we go ahead with this. I also don't agree because CUPE will get hit with having a broken up payroll.  We already have enough hard hits on our payroll, this will just ADD more payrolls that will be hit with a decrease in pay. CUPE  always looses in these "proposals that directly effect money" I would much rather keep the spring break as it is, I am used to the hit and expect it and know when it is, consistency is good for all.
As for the 2 Pro D days, I have no problem with that, I am in agreement with what ever is decided.
Good morning, I would like to say that dividing the spring break is not a good idea. You will end up other kids taking time off, when there was two weeks at regular spring break. We cannot continue to cater to basketball, when education is the reason for school and not basketball. I do not see the advantage of splitting up regular spring break. I think we cater too much for sports in general, we should be focusing on  the education. So I say NO to the changes.

I don’t agree with splitting spring break up for one week in February and March because that is when kids take time to learn how to harvest Oolichan. Can’t accommodate students for all native basketball, because education is important. So i disagree the change that is being brought forward.

I do not support the change in adding a week off of school in February to accommodate an extra curricular activity that for the majority do not affect the majority of our children. In my opinion I do not believe that children should have reinforcement by an institution that basketball is life. This change would create undo hardships for many working families, many of whom are employed and are not granted a week off for basketball.

Thank you for accepting my feedback.

Hi, so my vote for that draft is NO
How I see it is they are catering to the basketball players, they should be able to do work while away, when I came to school here it was never closed for all native , why do it now? I would rather have 2 weeks in March.

I do not like the proposed idea of splitting the 2 week spring break into 2 breaks. Doing it just to accommodate the few students who play in the all native. not everyone goes and not everyone cares about it. Separating it just for all native would make it a lot harder on the working parents, who would then have to find suitable/reliable sitter for their kids who would normally be in school. Whereas during spring break, there are activities happening for them.  I think if you wanted to accommodate the students who PLAY in the all native, the district can maybe give them excused absences.

I reviewed the proposed calendar for next year, and I think it's wonderful idea.

There was a huge drop in student population at NBES this year due to all native basketball tournament. As a member of NTU and also, as a general member of the public, I think the Board should go ahead with this as planned.

I am not agreeing with the proposed change for Spring Break.

I disagree with splitting the two week spring break with All native also because not everyone goes to all native besides I'd rather have my child enjoy 2 weeks of spring break

Please return the 2 week spring break or provide a different solution as the ANBT week does not justify this change in any way, it is not a cultural reason, if anything it should be moved for Hoobiyee to promote cultural acceptance. Each year the host community struggles with the fact and thought that school is important but so is Hoobiyee, each year the families are met with a predicament of do I take time off for Hoobiyee? Or my time off wasn’t approved, a simple solution is to speak with the host community on the dates they would have for Hoobiyee and go with cultural respect rather than a sporting event that doesn’t necessarily need that type of attention from our school district.

I do not agree with doing a split to accommodate the All Native Basketball Tournament. Basketball yes is a major sport in our community but when most of the students are actually involved and playing ball is at the Junior All Native Tournament where the organizers of this accomodate to the education system by having it in the Spring break that has been there for years as it should be so it doesnt affect students and educators.

I do support the Calendar as presented.

The data speaks volumes that the attendance does warrant to make a change in the calendar. My children did excel in the short-term. I appreciated the short-term it was spectacular the growth in my children. Then they both fell ill and couldn't attend during the week in February. But I noticed they did both need a break.

I disagree with the splitting of Spring Break for All Native Tournaments. We love our full Spring Breaks. They should move the Tournaments to Spring Break or Summer .
I would not like the spring break split, and to remain aligned with neighbouring districts.

As a parent of children who are actively in sports, I’ve seen them grind hard in the gym and in school to make all native week work..the push and motivation that juniors is only a few weeks after...I personally feel supported by our district in order to make these changes to keep attendance up. My only concern is that we never know when juniors  will be next year until after the the coach and managers meeting in the hosted community...it may coincide or it may not will definitely keep these dates in mind.
I am for the change.

I’m a youth and recreation worker and we’ve adapted to the two week spring break and run programs for youth and have other events spring break while other kids go to Jr’s. Also there’s gathering our voices and other camps and sport camps during the two weeks.

All Native isn’t a special Holliday and I am against the spring break change.
If a student chooses to miss a week of school over basketball they should be straight A or B students and have work completed and go back to school once knocked out of the tourney instead of staying all week.

Last, a lot of families plan for spring break events and usually use time off to spend with family or attend functions such as jr gov or just a short get away, even spring cleaning

I want Spring break to stay the same 2 weeks in March my children do not attend All Native Basketball and they like having 2 weeks off I vote to keep the same

Keep the 2 weeks for spring break

I do not agree with the seperate weeks for spring break

I DO NOT agree with one week in February 2021 for Springbreak.

I would like to keep spring break the way it is.

I am going to suggest that the 2 days that are proposed to be following Remembrance Day from the August PD be moved to the All Native week - Thursday & Friday

Good afternoon, after some consideration I do not agree with having one week of spring break during All native (mid February) and one week of spring break in March. Not all kids attend all native and this may interrupt other families plans.
